] Walk up to the elevator and press the button. If someone is already waiting for the elevator, they probably aren't stupid enough to be standing there without it pressed. You do not need to press it again.

] While waiting, stand out of the way of the door. Do not wait right in front of it, and be the first thing people inside the elevator see. They don't like having to walk around you. Please stay to the side. Also, please do not stand in the middle of the only walkway to/from the elevator. This does not count as standing to the side.

] When you get on the elevator, make sure people aren't still getting out of it. It is polite to let the previous riders of the elevator get out before you push yourself in. It is like driving: You do not go into the oncoming traffic.

] Once in the elevator, if you are standing by the buttons to select which floor, please stand aside for other people to press the floor they want. Not everyone is going to your floor. If there is no room, please ask if any other floors need to be pressed. Please stand in an organized fashion, so that your baby stroller and bag is not in the middle of the elevator, making it difficult for other people to be in the elevator as well.

] If you are only going up/down one floor, get the hell off. There are stairs, and unless you are severely pregnant/with a baby who can't walk up stairs, handicapped, or are carrying something excruciatingly heavy, it probably would have been quicker to take the stairs right around the corner.

] When you are exiting the elevator, make sure you look to see people have followed step 2. Some jackass might be standing right in your face as the door opens, and it would be best to not walk into them. Take a moment to see that no one is forcing their way in, and exit. If there are the sort of people mentioned in step 5 who are handicapped, let them out first. Otherwise, yes, the seniors will think of you as a self-centered ruffian. And that poor UPS man will have to wait while you go out first, holding his heavy boxes.
